John Boyd RP, 1940-2001

Born in Stonehaven, Kincairdshire, Boyd studied from 1958 to 1962 at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen and Hospitalfield in Arbroath. He taught in secondary schools in Glasgow from 1963 to 1978 and then part-time in further education. In addition he taught part-time at Glasgow School of Art from 1967 to 1988, and in the Extra Mural Department of Glasgow university from 1979 to 1982. Boyd's first one-man exhibition was held in 1967 at the New 57 Gallery in Edinburgh. He went on to exhibit widely in Britain and in Johannesburg. His works were regularly included in the annual exhibitions of the RA, RSA, RGI and RP.
